Man bailed over stabbing in Sheffield city centre

A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Sheffield has been released on bail.

The 23-year-old was arrested and questioned over the attack in the city centre on Sunday, August 23.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Police were alerted to the assault after a man turned up at hospital with stab wounds to his body at around 1pm.

Detectives initially thought he had been assaulted near to the Park Square roundabout, in the city centre.

However, further enquiries have lead officers to believe that the scene of the assault is in Arundel Gate.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are still keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Arundel Gate area between 11am and 1pm on Sunday.

“If you have information that could help officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 667 of August, 23 2015.”
