Man attempted to flee after crashing into car in Sheffield suburb

A man, who attempted to flee after colliding with another vehicle that left the driver with serious injuries last night on a Sheffield road, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and vehicle theft.

South Yorkshire Police said the force were called at around 11.30pm on Sunday (May 30) to reports of a road traffic collision in Spinkhill Road, Woodthorpe.

It is reported that that two cars, a red Fiesta and a Silver Volkswagen, had been involved in a collision.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 34-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital via ambulance.

However, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 37-year-old man, fled the scene on foot.

He was arrested a short time later on suspicion of drink driving and theft of a motor vehicle.
