Man attacked at Tour de France fan park in Sheffield

A man is in hospital after being assaulted at the Tour de France fan park in Wincobank yesterday

The 32-year-old suffered cuts to his back and facial injuries in the attack on Jenkin Hill at around 3.15pm as hundreds of spectators gathered to watch the world famous bike race.

He is in hospital in a stable condition.

Police officers investigating the attack, which happened to the left of a large screen set up for the event, want to hear from witnesses.

They also want anyone who may have captured the fight as they filmed footage of the day to come forward.

Call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 773 of July 6.
