Man arrested in Sheffield city centre murder investigation

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 26-year-old man in Sheffield on Tuesday (24 March).

Emergency services were called to the junction of Union Street and Charles Street at around 3.30am after a man was found unconscious.

Officers and paramedics attempted resuscitation, but the man sadly died at the scene. A post mortem found he died from a head injury.

Formal identification has taken place and his family is being supported by officers at this time.

Last night (25 March) a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at this time.

Officers continue to appeal for information about the incident. Please call 101 quoting incident number 58 of 24 March.
