Man arrested over Sheffield teenager’s road death

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after the death of a teenager in Sheffield.

Travis Mason O’Neil, aged 19, died after the vehicle he was travelling was in collision with another car before allegedly fleeing the scene.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police investigating the death of a man following a road traffic collision that occurred on Arbourthorne Road, Sheffield, have arrested a 19-year-old man from Sheffield on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

“He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

Mr O’Neil died on Tuesday, November 27.

South Yorkshire Police believe he was a passenger in a 4x4-type vehicle, which fled the scene leaving Mr O’Neil in the street, after being involved in a collision with a VW Golf.

Officers are still trying to trace the vehicle. The two people in the Golf were not hurt.
