DETECTIVES have arrested a man over street robbery which left a woman in hospital with serious head injuries.
They arrested the 22-year-old over an incident on Plantation Hill, close to the junction of Chesterton Drive, Worksop, in the early hours of Sunday.
The 25-year-old victim was struck with a hammer and had her iphone stolen.
Despite the arrest, police still want to speak to a number of people known to have be in the area at the time.
Among them were two men in a pale blue VW Polo car near the bridge at the bottom of Kilton Hill, who spoke to the woman at around 3.40am.
Detective Inspector Ash Wilson, of Worksop CID, said: “This was a very serious and highly unusual incident. It is very rare that something of this nature should occur anywhere in Nottinghamshire.
“We are adapting patrol plans in this part of Worksop and there will more a more visible presence of uniformed officers.”
