A silver Volkswagen ploughed through a hedge and narrowly avoided missing a house after the dramatic crash on Spinkhill Road.
Residents were quick to help the injured driver while the driver of a red Fiesta fled from the scene on foot.

Hide AdPolice said that the 37-year-old was arrested a short time later.
A spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 11:30pm on Sunday 30 May to reports of a road traffic collision in Spinkhill Road.
“It is reported that that two cars, a red Fiesta and a Silver VW, had been involved in a collision.
“The driver of the VW, a 34 year old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital via ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Hide Ad“The driver of the Fiesta, a 37-year-old man, fled the scene on foot. He was arrested a short time later on suspicion of drink driving and theft of a motor vehicle.
“Enquiries are ongoing. If anyone witnessed the collision or has any information that might help our officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 1200 of 30 May.”
