Officers have confirmed are treating the two incidents as linked.
Now, police have revealed that they have arrested a man in connection with the incidents.
The 23-year-old was arrested on yesterday evening (December 21) on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent and possession with intent to supply drugs other than Class A.
He remains in custody at this time.
Detective Inspector Claire Moss, from the Armed Crime Team, said: "I am pleased we have made an arrest in connection with these attacks.
“Thankfully, no one was injured in relation to these incidents, but it could easily have been another tragic occurrence, as we have seen too frequently in South Yorkshire.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported our investigation so far. We cannot end gun violence alone and we rely on the backing of our communities to help us get these weapons, and those who carry them, off the streets.”
