Man arrested in Chesterfield on suspicion of attempted murder after Meersbrook shooting

A man has been arrested in Chesterfield on suspicion of attempted murder after shots were fired in the Meersbrook area of Sheffield on Friday (10 January).

The 30-year-old was arrested overnight after officers executed a warrant at an address in Chesterfield.

He remains in custody at this time.

Officers were called to Northcote Avenue in Meersbrook at 10.55pm on Friday 10 January, where they found evidence of a firearms discharge at the scene.No injuries were reported.

Assistant Chief Constable Tim Forber said: “This is the just the beginning of a range of activity planned in the coming days and weeks to locate and apprehend those involved in serious firearms offences in Sheffield.

Police are currently investigating a number of shootings that took place Sheffield, including one in Arbourthorne and another in Kettle Black bar on Ecclesall Road over the weekend.
