Man arrested after threatening disabled person in Sheffield city centre

Police in Sheffield city centre arrested and charged a man for two threatening behaviour offences, including one that was disability hate related.

Scott Anderson, 37, behaved threateningly towards two people who worked in the city centre before police intervened.

He was taken to the Shepcote Lane police station last night (August 12) and kept in custody.

He was also found to be in breach of bail.

Acting police sergeant Paul Briggs of South Yorkshire Police said: “We are committed to tackling this antisocial and hate related behaviour.

“These victims both work in the city centre, which they should be allowed to do without fear of being subjected to threatening and insulting behaviour.

“We will continue to pursue those that feel this behaviour is acceptable.”
