A man has been arrested after shoppers were threatened with a gun in a busy Doncaster street last night.

Police officers raced to Sandringham Road in Intake after reports that a man with a ‘machine gun’ had been threatening drivers and shoppers.
However, police allayed social media fears and said the weapon was actually an air rifle.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We have arrested a man on suspicion of committing offences contrary to the firearms act, and recovered what is believed to be an air rifle.”
