Man arrested after schoolchildren ‘approached’ in Rotherham

A man has been arrested after reports schoolchildren had been ‘approached’ in a Rotherham neighbourhood.

The 30-year-old man was arrested today in the Herringthorpe area after members of the public began reporting concerns to police from around 8.50 this morning.

The reports suggested a man in a car had approached and spoken to people in the area, some of whom were pupils at a nearby school.

Officers said the arrested man was currently in police custody and an investigation was underway.
