Man arrested after police sealed off road outside Northern General Hospital overnight

A road outside a Sheffield hospital was sealed off by the police overnight.

Emergency services were called to Barnsley Road, Grimesthorpe, at around 1.10am following ‘reports of concern for the welfare of a man on the roof of a building’.

A 28-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of affray and criminal damage and is in police custody this morning.

The road outside the Northern General Hospital was closed until the man came down from the roof.
