Man arrested after disturbing dog abuse video emerges on internet

A man has been arrested after disturbing video in which a dog is apparently punched in the head three times emerged on the internet.

Police had earlier appeal for information about the video after the footage was shared widely online in the last few days.

Officers say they have now arrested a Doncaster man before releasing him under investigation and removing the dog from his custody.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police investigating a video showing a man hitting a dog in the face have arrested a 26-year-old man from Doncaster in connection with the incident. He has been released under investigation.

“The welfare of the dog has been checked and it has been removed from his custody.”

Anyone with information about the video is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting 664 of 24 July 2020.
