Man arrested after 16-year-old assaulted in Rotherham

Police have launched an investigation after a teenager was assaulted in Rotherham.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the attack in Effingham Street after being called shortly after 1pm today.

The extent of the teenager’s injuries are not yet known.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested by officers and is currently in custody.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said the investigation is in its very early stages and there is an increased police presence in the area.

Any witnesses should call 101, quoting incident number 480 of September 9, 2015.
