Man appears in court charged with sexually assaulting woman in Barnsley

A man has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Barnsley.

Martin Wilmott, aged 43, of no fixed address was charged after a woman was allegedly pushed, punched and sexually assaulted as she walked to work along Old Doncaster Road at 6.20am on Thursday, August 20.

The victim was reportedly approached by two men, before one attacked her and stole her mobile phone and other personal items.

The day after, on Friday, August 21, Wilmott was charged with robbery, sexual assault and failing to provide a sample for a drugs test in connection with the incident.

He appeared before Magistrates Court on Saturday (August 22) where he was remanded into custody and will next appear in court on September 22.
