The man accused of murdering Sheffield man Jordan Marples-Douglas has appeared in court today.

Ben Jones, aged 25, of no fixed abode, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and nationality at Sheffield Magistrates Court.

The public gallery was packed with friends of the deceased.

Prosecutor Susan Fisher said he should be remanded into custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court, on March 16.

Mr Marples-Douglas, aged 23, was found at a property on Woodthorpe Road, Sheffield, shortly after 8pm on Friday, March 6 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination showed he died from a stab wound to the chest, South Yorkshire Police said.
