A 29-year-old man has been left fighting for his life after a head-on collision in Barnsley.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the crash in Monk Bretton today, Saturday, February 29.

A blue Citroen C2 was reportedly travelling along Rotherham Road towards Monk Bretton when the driver is thought to have lost control and collided head on with a silver Kia Sportage travelling in the opposite direction.

The Citroen is then said to have come off the road and hit a wall.

The Citroen driver, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries, while the 61-year-old Kia driver sustained minor injuries.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle in the lead-up to the crash.

Anyone with information, especially those who may have dash cam footage, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 279 of February 29.Dash cam footage can be emailed to [email protected].
