Major Sheffield roads near Hillsborough closed by police due to 'anti-social behaviour'

Two major roads near Hillsborough in Sheffield have been closed by police due to ‘anti-social behaviour’.

Bradfield Road and Langsett Road have both been shut, causing major disruption to buses and other traffic in the area as Sheffield Wednesday host Millwall today, Saturday, February 1.

First South Yorkshire tweeted at around 3.15pm to say both roads were closed and bus services 52A, 81, 82, 18, 18A, 32, 97, 98, 135 and 135A were all affected.

Leppings Lane and Penistone Road are usually closed by police on match days, with vehicles being diverted along Bradfield Road.

It is not yet known what the nature of the anti-social behaviour is and whether it is connected to the match at Hillsborough.

There were reports of Millwall fans being held up by police on their way to the game, which kicked off at 3pm.

The Star has contacted South Yorkshire Police and is awaiting more information.
