Major Sheffield road closed and buses diverted after serious collision

A major road in Sheffield has been closed and buses have been diverted away from the area after a serious collision.

The incident has taken place on the St’ Mary’s Gate South lane, just off London Road.

Witnesses have reported seeing multiple police cars as well as an air ambulance hovering above.

Stagecoach said: “Due to an accident on London Road Sheffield, services 43 44 will be diverted onto Bramall Lane both ways.”

First South Yorkshire said: “Due to a police incident at St’ Mary’s Gate South lane, the following services will divert: 20,56, 75, 76, 97, 98.

“Inbound-London Rd, Cemetery Rd, Summer field St, Ecclesall Rd ,Moore St, Fitzwillam Gate before resuming normal route

“Outbound–Charter row, Ecclesall Rd, Summerfield St, Cemetery Rd and resume normal route.”

South Yorkshire Police are yet to comment on the incident and no information has been given regarding any casualties or how long the road may be closed for.
