Major road sealed off and ‘seriously injured’ cyclist rushed to Sheffield hospital after crash

A major South Yorkshire road has been blocked off by police after a cyclist was ‘seriously injured’ in a crash.

Emergency services are currently on scene responding to the incident on Doncaster Road, Barnsley this morning (Tuesday, August 11).

“Police were called shortly after 10.20am to reports of a seriously injured cyclist close to Stairfoot roundabout,” said a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson.

"The man has been transported to Northern General Hospital."

The road will remain closed while officers carry out enquires.
