His family has today released a tribute to the young dad.

It reads: “Travis meant the world to us. He was the best dad he could ever have been and his son, Archie, will miss him every day.

“The day Travis died was his mum’s birthday, a day that will never been the same for us again. A day which should have been filled with celebration will now be filled with memories of Travis and a feeling of loss.”

The driver of the BMW, a 30-year-old man from Barnsley, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, being unfit through drink or drugs, being over the prescribed limit and driving with no insurance.

A 30-year-old woman, also from Barnsley, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Both have since been released under investigation.

An online crowdfunding appeal has been launched to raise money for Travis’ son.

Posting on the Go Fund Me page, which was set up with the permission of Travis' partner Abbie Pacey – the mother of his child – organisers Jo De Vine and Sarah Pacey said: “Travis was a much loved son, devoted dad, boyfriend, brother and friend to many people, who all agree that Travis was a doting, loving, proud dad to Archie.

“I have set this page up in Travis’s memory for Archie’s future, to help him as he grows in to the boisterous, funny little man his dad will be proud of and Travis would want to know that his son Archie has everything that he would want him to have and or that he will need.

“Any donation will be of great help to Abbie to help rebuild a life without Travis for Archie.”
