Offences the defendants were convicted of range from rape, to arson with intent to endanger life, to a "classic case” of road rage.

2. Burglary and handling stolen goods
Wayne White, 48, of Upper Clara Street, Kimberworth, pleaded guilty to burglary and handlng stolen goods. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
He stole laptops from a special school in Kimberworth, causing £3,000 of damage, and was later found with items stolen from a Rotherham garage. Photo: The Star
3. Sexual assault
Tony Hancock, 30, of no fixed abode, was convicted of attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by a jury. He was sentenced to four years in prison and placed on the Sex Offender Register. He preyed upon two women while they were staying at his house. Photo: The Star
4. Arson with intent to endanger
David Cheeseman, 32, of Central Drive, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, denied arson with intent to endanger life, possession of four knives, robbery and attempted robbery, but was convicted by a jury. He received an extended sentence of 18 years. He tried to throw home-made "petrol bombs" through the upstairs window of a terraced house on Mexborough, where an elderly person was asleep.
