Police have launched an investigation following reports of a stabbing near Sheffield.

The officers have been deployed to Westthorpe Road in Killamarsh this morning after the street was sealed off following a serious assault at around 10pm on Monday (March 29).

The road is currently taped off and under heavy police guard while forensic and door-to-door enquiries are being carried out.

Killamarsh stabbing: Sheffield man killed in attack named locally as ‘amazing daddy’ Ricky Collins

A murder probe has been launched following the death of a man described as an ‘amazing daddy’ in an attack near Sheffield.

Police officers were deployed to Westthorpe Road, Killamarsh, at around 10pm yesterday following reports of a disturbance at a house.

When they arrived they found a man seriously injured close to the junction of Westthorpe Road and Upperthorpe Road.

It has since emerged that the man, named locally as Ricky Collins, could not be saved and a murder investigation has been launched.

A police tent has been erected at a major crime scene near Sheffield amid reports of a stabbing.

Westthorpe Road in Killamarsh is a hive of police activity this morning after the street was sealed off following a serious assault last night.

The road is taped off and under police guard while forensic and door-to-door enquiries are carried out in the area.

Derbyshire Constabulary said officers were deployed to the residential street at around 10pm yesterday following reports of a disturbance at a house.

An injured man was found near the junction of Westthorpe Road and Upperthorpe Road and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The spot where the injured man was found is taped off this morning and a tent has been erected in a bid to preserve potential forensic evidence at the scene.

Derbyshire Constabulary has not yet disclosed the nature of the assault but residents claim a man was stabbed.
