23-year-old Jordan Parnham held his head in his hands and quietly sobbed as Judge Peter Kelson QC sentenced him to life imprisonment, to serve a minimum of eight years.

Parnham admitted raping two children under eight, one of whom is a toddler, at an earlier hearing.

Judge Kelson said it was ‘important’ that those concerned with the case understood the minimum term was just the initial amount of time Parnham would serve for his ‘shocking’ crimes, and that the parole board would have to consider the risk he poses to the public before he could be released.

“For my part, I cannot envisage a date when you could be considered anything less than a significant danger to children,” said Judge Kelson.

Parnham’s vile sex crimes were brought to the attention of the National Crime Agency (NCA), after he posted online to contacts he had made on the dark web that he was going to live stream a video of him sexually abusing a toddler on January 30 this year.

The information was passed on to South Yorkshire Police (SYP), and they raided his Barnsley home on February 22, as soon as they managed to trace his real identity through the alias he used online.

Sheffield Crown Court was told how when Parnham handed over his mobile telephone to officers, he told them: “There’s some disgusting stuff on here.”

Among the files found on Parnham’s phone was a video he had taken of himself raping a female toddler.

Prosecutor, Simon Reevell, said the Crown had not been able to recover any evidence of Parnham ‘live-streaming’ the video, but Parnham conceded he had shared it with a group of people he met on the dark web.

He was also found to have child pornography on his phone, that he distributed online. .

Further enquiries carried out by SYP revealed Parnham, now of Kirkby Close, Pontefract, had also raped a young boy around 12 months prior to this incident.

Neither victim can be named for legal reasons.

Matthew Harding, defending, said that while he did not seek to ‘belittle the seriousness or impact of his offending,’ he believed it could be argued that Parnham’s crimes were not as serious as other cases placed in the top bracket for the offence of rape of a child under the age of 13.

Mr Harding added that Parnham accepted the ‘enormity’ of what he had done, something he suggested could not be said of other offenders who have committed similar crimes.

As he sent Parnham to begin his life sentence, Judge Kelson said he ‘could not conceive of a more serious case’.

“Your offending borders on being unimaginable, it’s unthinkable...it’s so beyond the pale to have done that...to have filmed that,” said Judge Kelson.

He added: “You uploaded to the internet the recording of this shocking rape, and shared it with like-minded individuals.”

Parnham was also placed on the sex offenders’ register and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order, which will remain in place until further order of the court.
