Land Rover owners in Derbyshire are being warned of a spate of thefts - with 12 reported stolen between November and January .

TRACKER, a leading provider of stolen vehicle recovery solutions, urges all car owners to be extra vigilant and to step up their security.

Adrian Davenport, the firm’s police liaison officer, said: “Land Rovers and 4x4s are always popular vehicles, but especially in the wake of recent floods and bad, winter weather, making them a hot prospect for thieves.

”We have already recovered a record 38 4x4 vehicles that have been stolen over the last two months. However, we encourage all vehicle owners to ensure they make it difficult for thieves, by taking precautions and investing in the right security measures.

“Installing a TRACKER device can significantly increase the chance of police locating and returning a stolen vehicle. 95 per cent of stolen cars fitted with TRACKER are returned to their owners and 86 per cent of these are recovered within 24 hours.

“Thieves often take vehicles to break them down for spare parts, hiding them in garages and warehouses. Our award-winning technology helps lead police to these hidden locations.”
