Killer still at large week after stabbing of Albanian man in street violence in Sheffield

The killer of a man fatally stabbed when violence flared on the streets of Sheffield remains at large today.

Armend Xhika, aged 22, was knifed when a group of men were involved in fights on Earl Marshal Road, Fir Vale and nearby Kirton Road, Pitsmoor, just before 8pm on Thursday, May 13.

Police officers responded to reports of the brawls but those involved fled before they arrived.

Armend, an illegal immigrant, was dropped off outside A&E at the Northern General Hospital and medics performed open heart surgery in a bid to save his life but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A second man, also in his early twenties, was taken to hospital with stab wounds.

Five arrests have been made as part of the murder probe but nobody has been charged.

A friend of Mr Xhika said he moved to Sheffield in search of a ‘dream life’ away from poverty in his home country.
