In 2018, Zholia Alemi, 57, formerly of High Harrington, Cumbria, was jailed for five years for defrauding a pensioner by drafting a new will - leaving everything to her and her ‘Godchildren’ – and applying for power of attorney in her name. After Alemi was jailed it emerged she had practiced as a psychiatrist for 22 years with no qualification and worked for Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

On Wednesday, 19 August Cumbria Constabulary charged her with two counts of making a false instrument with intent it be accepted as genuine, eight counts of fraud by false representation and three counts of obtaining a pecuniary advantage. The charges follow an investigation by detectives in the force’s crime and safeguarding team.

Alemi will appear before Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on 22 September.
