Two men and a woman have been charged over the earlier incidents and are due at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today.

Joshua Motteshead, aged 20, of St Aidan’s Avenue, Norfolk Park; Demi Dunford, 24, of Derby Street, Heeley and Nicky Haycock, 22, of Ironside Close, Gleadless Valley, are accused of attempted murder.

Councillor Ben Miskell, who represents Arbourthorne, said: “As a local councillor I’ve never experienced anything like it.

“We’ve had more than our fair share of difficult times and nasty incidents over the years, but the intensity of gun related criminality over recent weeks has been unprecedented.

“I’ve had residents contact me to say that they now jump every time a motorbike backfires, whilst others say that they run and hide when they hear what seems to be gunfire. It’s not acceptable and those responsible are not welcome in our area.

“I’ve been contacted by residents who tell me that they are fearful of reprisals and are scared to report what they know to the police. I understand the fear that they feel is very real, but I’d encourage anyone with information to report it. Ultimately we can only tackle this by working together.”
