A PERVERT from Sheffield whose sick activities were monitored by international crime fighters Interpol has been jailed after downloading more than 1,600 sexual images of young children onto his computer.

Jamie Stagg, aged 49, of Derbyshire Lane, Norton Lees, began downloading the pictures five years ago “to get a buzz”.

Sheffield Crown Court heard South Yorkshire Police were alerted by Interpol after pornographic images were discovered on an internet forum based in Luxembourg.

Investigations showed six of the images had been put on the site by an internet address belonging to jobless Stagg.

Officers found a huge collection of sickening child porn - including 1,657 images and 72 videos - on Stagg’s computer hard drive.

The court heard there were extremely hardcore images although most of the pictures were considered to be ‘low level’ pornography.

Stagg pleaded guilty to five counts of making indecent images of a child.

Jailing him for six months, Judge Jacqueline Davies told Stagg he would serve half that time.

She added:“It is concerning to note that you knew what the consequences would be, but you went on nevertheless downloading this material. For a period of five years your interest became progressively worse to get a buzz.

“These were not isolated events, there was a developing pattern.

“These are serious matters involving the flagrant abuse of young children.”

The judge also ordered that Stagg’s name should be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register and said all the material he had downloaded must be destroyed.
