Hanover Court resident Ian Watson, aged 59, said: "The news of this shooting is absolutely terrifying, I'm almost too afraid to answer the door.

"I never heard a sound on the night when it happened, I just noticed the flashing lights coming through the windows. This kind of news is deeply upsetting and if I could move away from this area, I would."

Barbera Brooks, aged 66, also of Hanover Court, added: “I remember the incident very well, I didn’t hear any gunshots, however, I did see all the commotion with the bright blue lights flashing outside my window.

"This is a fairly quiet area, normally. I've been here nearly nine years and not had a great deal to feel concerned about.

“Alternatively, I think this is different, gun crime is incredibly scary and I hope it doesn’t become too much of an issue."

Extra police officers have been drafted in to provide reassurance and additional safety to residents in the area.

Officers have also excuted a search warrant in William Street.
