A MAN has been jailed for his third attack on his disabled wife.

Maxwell Moore, aged 51, grabbed her throat, pulled her hair and dragged her to the floor, Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court heard.

His wife, Gail, who suffers from spondylosis of the spine, told police she was pretending to be asleep in a chair when he started shouting at her after he had been drinking.

She said he became ‘a different person’ when he drank, describing him as abusive and aggressive.

Moore, of Ivanhoe Court, Flamsteed Crescent, Newbold, told police he could remember very little about the incident because he had drunk 18 bottles of lager.

Moore admitted assault and magistrates jailed him for 16 weeks.

Julie Page, representing Moore, said he and his wife were both heavy drinkers.
