Police are searching for a man who tried to raid a rural bank.

Derbyshire Police say a man walked into Lloyds in Market Street, Eckington, and demanded cash from staff just before midday today.

He left a short time later empty-handed. No one was injured in the incident and no weapons were seen.

A police spokesman said: "We want to hear from anyone who was in the Market Street area at about noon and might have seen a man running off.

"The would-be robber was white, in his mid- to late 20s, about 5ft 9ins, and of slim or skinny build. He had short dark brown hair that was messy on top, and was wearing a black hooded jacket and sunglasses."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Simon Rogers on 101, quoting incident 409 of March 27.
