In South Yorkshire, officers are patrolling the streets and are stopping motorists to check where they are going.

To report offenders, an online incident form can be completed on South Yorkshire Police’s website.

The force said: “The government has set out new rules to state people should stay at home and all retailers selling non-essential goods and other non-essential premises should be closed, in the fight against Covid-19.

“Additional powers have been granted to the police to enforce these rules.

“To report anything which goes outside of the government rules, you can do so using the form.”

As of yesterday, there were 715 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Sheffield.

A total of 31 hospital patients who tested positive for have died in the city so far.

There are 154 confirmed cases in Barnsley, 154 in Rotherham, and 116 in Doncaster.

Across UK, 38,168 people have tested positive and the official death toll stands at 3,605.

Sheffield’s FlyDSA Arena is being used as a giant storage depot for NHS supplies during the pandemic.
