House fire started deliberately

AN ARSON attack was to blame for a fire on the ground floor of a house on Ravenscroft Drive, Richmond, Sheffield.

The fire started in the porch area of the property and spread to the kitchen. A 31-year-old man and his dog got out unharmed.

Closed for training

THE banking hall at the Barnsley Connects office on Eldon Street will close an hour early each day until Friday. Facilities will be unavailable from 4pm, to train staff on new chip-and-pin payments. The hall returns to normal on Monday.

Bin is set alight

FIREFIGHTERS called to a derelict house on fire in Sheffield found a wheelie bin had been dragged into the cellar and set alight.

Crews were called to the blaze on Deerlands Avenue, Parson Cross, at 10.45pm on Sunday.

Smoke inhalation

A WOMAN was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after she left a pan on her hob.

The 43-year-old, of Watermead, Bolton upon Dearne, managed to get out of her house before firefighters arrived.

Search for intruder

THE police helicopter was used to help search for a burglar following a break-in which led to a car being stolen. Police mounted the operation on Monday afternoon after the car was found on a driveway.

Burglar arrest

POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of burglary after he was spotted trying to enter a house in Maltby via a garage roof. Officers were made aware of the burglary in progress at 1am on Saturday.

Patient found safe

A PATIENT who vanished from hospital in Sheffield was found by police in Parson Cross. The police helicopter and a dog handler were involved in the search on Saturday afternoon.

Motorbikes seized

FOUR nuisance motorcyclists had their bikes seized by police in Lundwood and Kendray. Officers mounted an operation along with Barnsley’s anti-social behaviour team.
