Several incredible and beloved individuals have lost their lives on Sheffield's streets this year.
Christmas should be a time of joy and togetherness.
But following killings carried out on Sheffield's streets during the course of 2023, a number of families will be experiencing heartache instead this festive period.
In each of these cases, police have launched criminal investigations.
While some families have been delivered justice after their loved one's killer, or killers, were convicted, others are still waiting to be given the closure that can come with learning how someone came by their death.
Where possible, we have included incident numbers for the ongoing investigations.
Please call South Yorkshire Police on 101 if you have information that could help.

9. Adam Abdul-Basit
Despite the best efforts of medics who rushed to the scene, 18-year-old Adam Abdul-Basit died from his injuries outside a property on Smelter Wood Road in the Stradbroke area of Sheffield at just after 1pm on Monday, May 8, 2023. 18-year-olds Xander Howarth, of Richmond Park View, Handsworth, Sheffield, and Thomas Hardiman, of Edenhall Road, Deep Pit, Sheffield, went on trial at Sheffield Crown Court in November 2023 accused of Mr Abdul-Basit's murder, a charge they denied.
On Monday, December 4, 2023, a jury rejected their account when they found the pair, both of whom were aged 17 at the time of the fatal incident, guilty of murder.
Howarth and Hardiment were spotted on CCTV, wielding knives as they chased Mr Abdul-Basit into the front garden of a Smelter Wood Road property.Speaking after Howarth and Hardiman were found guilty, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Etheridge, who led the murder investigation, said: "This was a horrific and savage attack that has destroyed the lives of three young men from Sheffield.
"Hardiman and Howarth both left their homes armed with a knife before plunging it into Adam's chest and leaving him to die in a stabbing that happened in broad daylight down a residential street.
"They must now face the prospect of spending a considerable length of time behind bars, while Adam's family must deal with the unimaginable pain and grief of knowing he will never be able to fulfil his dreams after his life was cut short in barbaric fashion."

60-year-old Marcia Grant was run over by her own car on Hemper Lane, Greenhill, on the evening of Wednesday, April 5, 2023, with emergency services being called to the scene at around 7.10pm.
A boy, who was aged 12 at the time of the incident but has now turned 13, was initially charged with Marcia's murder.
Prosecutors subsequently accepted a guilty plea to an alternative charge of causing death by dangerous driving, during a Sheffield Crown Court hearing held on October 3, 2023.
During a Sheffield Crown Court hearing held this morning on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, Mrs Justice May sentenced the boy to two years' custody. He cannot be named for legal reasons.
She told him that while custody, was a last resort for children of his age, ‘taking the car, driving the car and causing Marcia Grant’s death’ is so serious that only custody can be justified.
On November 1, 2023, jurors found David Scott unanimously guilty of the murder of 49-year-old Sarah Brierley, whose body was found at her home in Skelton Close, Woodhouse on February 20, 2023. The extent of 'decomposition' suggested she is likely to have died some days earlier, the jury of seven women and five men have previously been told. Prosecutors believe Ms Brierley, also known as 'Queenie,' is likely to have been killed on February 14, 2023, at some point between 2.48pm - when Scott was left alone with Ms Brierley in her flat, and 1.08pm, the timestamp of a picture showing Ms Brierley's dead body with her head covered with a bin bag that was recovered from a phone used by Scott.
During the course of the three-week trial, Sheffield Crown Court was told how a Home Office pathologist who examined Ms Brierley's body determined she had suffered severe injuries to her head, which had fractured the skull, and were consistent with being caused by multiple blows - at least five - with a blunt weapon inflicted with severe force.
And on Thursday, November 2, 2023, Scott was brought to justice for the 'heartless' murder of Ms Brierley when Mr Justice Kerr sent him to begin a life sentence, and told him he must serve at least 29 years behind bars.
