'He was the best': Tributes paid to popular primary school teacher after shock death

David Bradley, assistant headteacher at Westways Primary School in Crookes, is believed to have been aged in his early 30s, when he died.

The cause of death has not yet been released but the school’s executive headteacher, Sam Fearnehough, said everyone at Westways is ‘shocked and heartbroken’ by his tragic death.

Tributes have poured in since Mr Bradley’s death was announced, with a number of notes, cards and pictures left on the railings outside the school.

Others have left touching tributes on Facebook.

Louise Adam described Mr Bradley as a ‘brilliant teacher and colleague and added: “We will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.”

Helen Ainsworth, whose son was taught by Mr Bradley, said he thought he was ‘the best teacher ever’ who had ‘such an impact’ on the year group.

Joanna Revill said: “All the kids loved him.”

Dawn Smith added: “Can’t believe it, such sad news. He was a wonderful teacher.”

Shelley Eyre described the death as ‘so sad’ and said Mr Bradley was a ‘lovely man and great teacher’.

Executive headteacher, Mrs Fearnehough, said Mr Bradley was ‘an amazing teacher’ ‘who was loved by all who met him and worked with him’.

“It is a huge loss, not only to our school but to the teaching profession. Dave was a headteacher in the making and had an outstanding contribution still to make to education,” she said.
