Gun used in armed robbery in Sheffield

Police are hunting two men who held up at Sheffield supermarket with a gun.

They struck at Spar and GT News on Twentywell Lane, Bradway, last Friday but details have only just been released by police today.

Detectives investigating the raid said the robbers had their faces covered and one threatened a lone member of staff with a gun.

They escaped with cash from the till.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “At 7.35pm on Friday, February 20, a robbery occurred at Spar supermarket in Twentywell Lane, Sheffield.

“Two white men, both covering their faces, entered the shop. One of them threatened the lone member of staff with what is believed to be a black handgun.

“In the meantime, the second man was waiting by the shop’s door.

“A quantity of cash was stolen from the till and they fled.”

The robbers were white and between 18 and 30 years old.
