South Yorkshire detectives are trying to find a Good Samaritan who helped an OAP who was knocked to the ground in an attempted robbery.

An 86-year-old man was walking along Eastwood Lane, Eastwood, Rotherham, at around 11.15am on Monday, February 17 when a woman tried to snatch his walking stick.

The incident, which caused the pensioner to fall to the ground, is being treated as an attempted robbery.

It is understood that a passing man helped the OAP to his feet and alerted emergency services.

The 86-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering facial injuries.

A 42-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the incident, but detectives want to trace the Good Samaritan to speak to him as a witness.
