A SEVEN-year-old girl was cut from a car by firefighters after a collision with a bus on a South Yorkshire road.

The youngster was the front seat passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa travelling along Town Lane, Greasbrough, Rotherham, when it was involved in a collision with a single-decker.

The car apparently crossed on to the wrong side of the road.

Police said the yellow Corsa, which was travelling towards Kimberworth at the time of the collision, failed to negotiate a left-hand bend, just past the junction with Lapwater Road.

The young girl was taken to hospital with a slight back injury but the 32-year-old car driver, from Rotherham, suffered serious pelvic, face and leg injuries.

He was detained at Rotherham District General Hospital.

A bus passenger, a 78-year-old Kimberworth Park man, suffered a slight leg injury but did not need hospital treatment.

The bus driver was unharmed.

n Witnesses to the crash at 7.30pm on Sunday or anyone who saw the two vehicles beforehand should call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020 and quote incident 1,097 of September 18.
