Friends and relatives of a Sheffield murder victim will gather to say their goodbyes to him at his funeral next week.

Grant Bodell, aged 23, of Windy House Lane, Manor, was found with gunshot wounds on wasteland off nearby Queen Mary Road in the early hours of Saturday, June 21.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance but could not be saved and was pronounced dead a short time later.

His funeral is to be held at the City Road Crematorium Chapel at 1.15pm on Friday, August 15, followed by burial at City Road Cemetery at 1.45pm.

Mr Bodell, a father-of-two, has been described by his family as ‘a loving son, caring dad, cherished brother and uncle’.

Detectives investigating his murder arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder shorty after the shooting and released him on bail pending further inquiries.

Nobody has been charged.

Police are linking the fatal shooting with an incident around two hours before, where gunfire was heard near the Embassy Club, Mansfield Road, Intake.

Corrie Lewis Allen, 24, of Windy House Lane, Manor and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named, have been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

They have been remanded in custody.

Anyone with information about the murder should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
