Police are teaming up with van drivers in a bid to crack down on vehicle break-ins.
Officers in the east of Sheffield have put together a free security pack for van drivers containing a UV and permanent marker pen, window stickers and leaflets.
It follows an increase in the number of vans being targeted by thieves who break in to steal power tools and other equipment which may be inside.
Insp Jason Booth, of the South East Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are aware that vans have been the target of recent thefts and we acknowledge how this can impact upon both individuals and businesses.
“The packs are an opportunity to support owners with a simple yet effective way of marking property left in vehicles. However, where possible we would advise people to remove such items from vans left parked overnight.”
The packs are available from Wickes and Homebase on Drakehouse retail park, the trade counter at B&Q Darnall, Purdys DIY in Woodhouse, Arnold Lavers in Halfway or the Moss Way police station enquiry desk.
