Four football hooligans sentenced over roles in melee outside Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium

Prosecutor Ian West showed Sheffield Crown Court phone footage of the violence, shot by residents on Middlewood Road, on May 5, last year.

Pierce Farr, Michael Fauvel, Jason Marsh, Matthew Pierce and Karolis Kosinskas were recorded as they set about an unidentified man, throwing punches and kicks.

The incident was sparked when Kosinskas and Fauvel began shouting pro-Wednesday slogans after the match finished.

The court heard Kosinskas has previous convictions for battery, assault , affray, and burglary and has served a 12 month detention and training order.

Fauvel has 20 previous convictions including assault, battery, burglary, threatening behaviour, harassment and has since served a custodial sentence.

Farr is of statutory good character and Marsh has no previous convictions. Pierce has previous convictions for a racially aggravated public order offence and assault.

Paul Wright, for Marsh, 35, of Rotherwood Road, Killamarsh, said the offence was out of character and he has not attended any matches since.

Clarkson Baptiste said Farr, 20, of Winn Grove, Sheffield, pleaded guilty early and would be a suitable candidate for a community disposal.

Mr Baptiste said Pierce, 37, of Nethermoor Drive, Killamarsh, has been out of trouble for 15 years and his role was the "most minor." He got involved out of a sense of loyalty.

Emma Hodgson said Kosinskas, 19, of Cornwall Close, Grantham, was 17 at the time, and there have been no other incidents since. She said: "He is now participating in positive activities and showing signs of maturity. He served two months in custody after the incident."

They all pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour, after denying affray.

Judge Michael Slater said it was an extremely unpleasant incident and handed Farr, Marsh, Pierce, and Kosinskas conditional discharges for two years.

All four were ordered to pay £100 towards the £2,700 costs. No football banning orders were sought.

Fauvell, 20, of Chestnut Avenue, Stocksbridge, will be sentenced on September 7, after a probation report has been prepared
