Forensic tests carried out into sick dog attack

Forensic tests are being carried out as part of a police probe into a sickening attack on a dog in Sheffield.

Officers investigating the attack on the Staffordshire bull terrier, on wasteland off Manor Laith Road, Skye Edge, have a suspect on bail pending the outcome of the tests.

The 28-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal after the body of the dog, named Issac, was found tied to a tree having been badly beaten and set on fire.

Police said the dog would have ‘suffered terribly’ before death.

Issac had been stolen from a garden on Boundary Road, Wybourn in late February, before he was tortured and killed.
