Forensic officers search block of flats as Sheffield murder investigation continues

Scenes of crime officers have been drafted in to examine a block of flats after a man was found slumped on the ground outside and later died.

The officers, wearing protective white suits, have been seen examining balconies in the block.

Officers have also carried out a search of the ground below.

Paramedics were called to Brimmesfield Close, Arbourthorne, in the early hours of this morning after a 54-year-old man was found on the ground.

He was pronounced dead a short time later and a police investigation was launched just before 1.45am.

The man has been named locally as David Hawley.

A police cordon remains in place around the flats this afternoon as police enquiries into the death are carried out.

A post mortem examination is due to take place later.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 43 of January 21.
