A FLAT suffered serious damage and neighbouring properties were affected when a fire was deliberately started in a block of flats.

The blaze broke out in one of the Beech Crescent flats in Killamarsh at 4.20pm on Tuesday, September 4.

Police said the flat was empty at the time and suffered extensive damage.

A 33-year-old man arrested over the blaze has been charged with arson and criminal damage but police still want to hear from people in the area at the time the fire broke out.
