Flags at police stations have been lowered following the death of a 40-year-old police motorcyclist in a collision on Nether Lane, Ecclesfield.
The officer, who has not yet been named, was responding to calls about a silver BMW failing to stop for officers.

Hide AdThe officer’s marked police bike was involved in a collision with a Toyota Avensis, which was driven by a 64-year-old man, who escaped with minor injuries.
South Yorkshire Police said the police officer was pronounced dead a short time after the crash.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision has been launched.
In a tweet, Rotherham North neighbourhood policing team said: “North Team have lowered our flag to remember one of our colleagues who died whilst on duty.
“Thoughts are with his family and colleagues.”

Hide AdChief Inspector Chris Foster, from Rotherham added: “We have today lowered our flag to remember one of our own who died on duty yesterday.
“Our thoughts are with his family. Life is short; look after each other #RotherhamRemembers.”
Thousands of tributes have been paid online, with South Yorkshire residents thanking the officer for his service.
Andy Hyams posted: “RIP to the poor officer and sincere condolences to his family.
“It brings it home how dangerous it is for the lads and lasses in blue, who are forgotten about in this crazy society that we live in.”
