Firefighters rush to Sheffield street as arsonists set house on fire

Firefighters dealt with a house set alight in an arson attack in Sheffield.

Crews were alerted to the blaze in an empty house on Musgrave Crescent, Shirecliffe, at 8.45pm yesterday.

Three fire engines from Elm Lane, Rivelin and Central stations were deployed and crews established that the fire had been started deliberately.

Last night firefighters also dealt with a flat fire on School Close, Wales, Rotherham.

A tea towel caught fire after a grill was accidentally left on.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Last night, Barnsley firefighters dealt with a pile of rubbish set alight on Windsor Street, Thurnscoe; two wheelie bins torched on Wilthorpe Avenue, Wilthorpe and a grass fire started deliberately on Grange Lane, Cundy Cross.

Sheffield firefighters dealt with a tree, scrubland and rubbish set alight on Lindsay Road, Parson Cross and Rotherham crews were deployed to a rubbish fire on Far Lane, East Dene and a van fire on Smallage Lane, Fence.
