Firefighters called to tackle bus fire in Sheffield

Two fire crews were deployed to tackle a bus fire in Sheffield on Wednesday evening.

South Yorkshire Police said emergency services were called at 5.22pm to Brightside Lane to an incident which involved a single decker bus.

Fortunately, the driver and passengers were all safely off the bus when the crews arrived.

The police said the fire was in the engine compartment and has been logged as accidental.

The emergency crews left the scene half an hour later.

It was reported yesterday that bus services had to be diverted following a fire incident near the Forgemasters building.

First South Yorkshire said its 18 and X78 services were withdrawn from Brightside Lane due to a "fire brigade" incident.
