A man believed to hold vital information about the stabbing has gone to ground to evade arrest.

One possibility is that he may have left the country.

Ahmed Farrah, 31, was treated for facial injuries at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on the same night that Kavan was stabbed.

He vanished from Sheffield the following day and was last seen in Cardiff one month later.

Detective Chief Inspector Jude Ashmore, leading the murder probe, said: “I have a team of officers who are as committed as ever to finding the person responsible for Kavan’s death.

“This time of year is particularly difficult for Kavan’s family as they look toward another celebration that will take place without him. They are still hopeful that somebody will come forward with a vital piece of information to help move this investigation forward.

“I urge anybody who thinks that they may be able to help to please get in touch.”

Anyone who spots Farrah should dial 999 immediately.

To pass on any other information about the murder or where Farrah may be, call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 827 of August 14, 2018.
